"I'm Not Done Yet!"

Collin Manning

I don't think we have ever heard Collin say anything verbally with an exclamation mark behind it, but he sure did make that kind of a statement with his actions on Monday. Our Castle Talk for the week was about not being done when you are done working, in that you have to focus on the maintenance after the work. After the boy's race, the varsity was not done. They hit the track and did a workout. When all the others decided they were done, Collin continued his workout and wrapped up with an extended cool down. This week was a big turning point for Collin as he contributed to the 1 through 5 panther placing against the Eagles and even led the race in the middle portions. But his actions after the race start to tell a bigger story, one that we will enjoy reading in November. Keep up the good work!

Transition Time

Mackenzie Kitchen<

With 800 Meters being the longest race Mackenzie has ran in track, 5000 Meters has required quite a transition. She was very thankful that the Hudson's Bay course was a mere 4000 Meters. With the help of teammate Meredith Collins pacing her through the first half of the race, Mackenzie turned in a fine performance good enough for 9th place, at a pace way faster than her 5K PR. In fact, upon estimating what her 5K time would have been with that caliber of performance, her improvement would have been closer to two minutes rather than one! On top of that, she cranked out some fabulous workouts later on in the week, proving that she is destined to help the girls team make a huge statement come time for the district meet next month. All of us now have the confidence that she is ready for 5000 Meters of success!
